How to Renew Scooter’s Bluebook in Butwal – Real Experience & Cost (2025)

Renewing the vehicle's registration is a mandatory and essential task for every vehicle owner in Nepal. If you fail to renew it on time, you may face fines and legal complications. Recently, I renewed the blue book of my father's scooter in Butwal. One important question many people ask is whether a pollution test report is required. In Butwal, the answer is: not always. If your vehicle is fairly new or has been regularly renewed, the Transport Office generally does not ask for a pollution test report. However, for older vehicles or those that haven’t been renewed for a long time, they may require it. In major cities like Kathmandu or Pokhara, this report is often mandatory.

Another great thing about Butwal is the availability of doorstep bluebook renewal services. If you are busy or unable to visit the office, several local service providers can collect your documents from your home, renew the blue book, and return it to you. These services typically charge between NPR 500 to NPR 750. Make sure to choose a trusted service and always ask for a receipt.

From my experience, I can say that renewing a scooter's bluebook in Butwal is not a difficult process. Whether you go in person or send someone else with the right documents, the renewal is quick and hassle-free. External insurance is accepted as long as it’s from a registered company, and pollution tests are usually not required for newer or well-maintained vehicles.
