Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold: Samsung’s First Multi-Folding Phone
bmw | Dec. 3, 2025
Samsung has once again pushed the boundaries of mobile innovation by unveiling its first multi-folding smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold. As competition in the foldable market continues to intensify, this device stands out as one of the most ambitious products the company has released in recent years. More than just a new model, the Galaxy Z TriFold represents a bold attempt to reshape how future smartphones and tablets might function together in a single device.
For years, Samsung has led the foldable segment with its Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip series. The introduction of a tri-fold design marks a significant evolutionary leap. The TriFold can be folded into a compact phone, and when fully unfolded, it transforms into a large 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED display. This design gives users the flexibility of both a smartphone and a tablet, all within one device. It hints at a future where portability will no longer limit productivity or entertainment experiences.
In terms of performance, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform, one of the most advanced chipsets currently available. This ensures that heavy workloads, multitasking, gaming, and AI-based applications run smoothly. The camera system also reflects Samsung’s flagship quality, featuring a high-resolution 200MP main sensor capable of delivering detailed and vibrant images. The expanded display becomes particularly useful for tasks like editing photos, writing notes, studying, or using multiple apps at once.
Battery life has often been a concern for foldable devices, especially those with larger displays. Samsung has addressed this by equipping the TriFold with a 5600mAh triple-cell battery, which helps power its expansive screen and demanding features. The redesigned hinge mechanism also aims to improve durability and create a smoother folding experience, something that has been a challenge for previous generations of foldables.
Despite its impressive capabilities, the Galaxy Z TriFold does come with drawbacks, the most significant being its price. Priced at approximately KRW 3.59 million (around USD $2,440), it is clearly targeted at premium users and technology enthusiasts rather than the general consumer market. Durability is another area where long-term real-world usage will determine how well the tri-fold structure holds up. The increased complexity of the hinge and display design naturally raises questions about its longevity.
Samsung plans to launch the device first in South Korea on December 12, 2025, followed by releases in markets such as China, Taiwan, Singapore, and the UAE. In the United States, it is expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2026. This phased rollout shows Samsung’s strategic approach to testing the market response before making it widely available.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is not just another smartphone; it is a glimpse into the future of mobile technology. It combines a unique tri-fold design, powerful hardware, a tablet-like display, and AI-enhanced performance into a single form factor. Although its high price may limit widespread adoption, its innovation sets a new benchmark for the industry. With the TriFold, Samsung is not only introducing a new device but also redefining what the next generation of mobile computing could look like.
