Some reports suggest that nearly 10 percent of Nepal’s population might already be using Snapchat, though this isn’t officially confirmed. What’s certain is that its user base is expanding quickly among Nepali youth, driven by creativity, privacy, and the appeal of visual storytelling.

Snapchat’s main appeal lies in its temporary and spontaneous nature. Unlike other platforms where posts stay visible indefinitely, Snapchat’s photos, videos, and messages vanish after a short time. Since Snapchat’s main audience is between 13 and 25 years old, it’s a valuable space for youth-focused products and services.

A fashion brand in Kathmandu, for instance, could use Snapchat filters to showcase new collections, or a local café might promote daily deals through quick, engaging “Stories.” Such creative marketing strategies enable businesses to connect more naturally with audiences than traditional ads.

This means users need to stay aware of privacy and think carefully about what they share.
